Bakin' Bacon

I'm not that excited about frying bacon. The grease gets everywhere and it you have to watch it and flip it.

My preferred method is to bake bacon. Yep, you can bake it in the oven!

Bakin' Bacon

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Spray a roasting pan (the kind with the slits for the juices to to the bottom and a try underneath) with cooking spray.

Arrange bacon in a single layer on a roasting pan.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, to desired crispness.
Drain on paper towel.

Put in a Ziploc bag and store in the refrigerator or freezer.

Perfect for making my
Bacon & Cheese Muffin or to just have on-hand.

Savings tip--in the last photo, I did the same thing with a package of bacon ends. You can find bacon ends in the meat department at your grocery store. They're not usually by the bacon, but somewhere else. Ask the butcher. It's generally cheaper per pound and tastes just as good! It's just not in uniform shape and size. I like to bake them, then use them to crumble for salads or use in other recipes.

This couldn't have come at a better time! My exhaust fan is broken,and I have really missed bacon for breakfast. Thank you a million times over!

Thank you for reminding me that I still have some bacon strips in my fridge. I love bacon but don't use it to often. But I would love a bacon sandwish now!

So much easier isn't it. We sometimes use the barbecue too so the house doesn't hold that greasy smell. Bacon smells great but the leftover grease...not so much.

I do my bacon in the oven too... so much easier, and I love that it doesn't curl up! I use a cookie cooling rack on top of a sheet pan lined with heavy duty foil - easy cleanup!

My husband fries about 1/2 lb bacon every Saturday but he does it in the microwave!

I've used the oven to cook bacon but never though to freeze it once done. Thanks for a great idea. I hope you are having a wonderful day.

I've been baking bacon for a while, but I never thought of doing it on a broiler pan. Good idea!

We raised a pig this summer and the butcher cut the bacon really thick so frying it was a nightmare! The meat burnt and the fat was still rubbery- so I tried it in the oven last week and what a difference! It cooked evenly, stayed flat, tasted meaty (as opposed to charred) I just use a cooling rack over an old cookie sheet (being careful not to spill the grease when I remove it) I love that the fat drains away and I consider it to be a timesaver too considering it all cooks at once instead of batches. i'll never cook it in a pan again!
